Today I’ve been a part of a guessing game :D

by Roar on May.23, 2010, under This and that

You know how sometimes the funniest things happens ?

Today I had such a  incident. I was walking on Aker Brygge when there was a sudden rainstorm, so I took cover under a small landing and since I didn’t know how long the rain would last I got my book out.

And then suddenly a woman comes across the plaza and asks me what book I’m reading. She was a publisher and she and some friends had been watching me from the other side trying to decide if I was a tourist reading a travel guide or someone else reading fiction.

I’m still wondering who won the bet :)

And my the way I was reading “Gone for good” by Harlan Coben. And I guess that’s the reason why I’ve yet to go to bed. Just had to keep reading.

Little stroll

by Roar on Jun.30, 2009, under This and that

Or at least that was tonight’s plan.

I bought a new lens for my camera today, a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro, nice piece of kit :) So i thought I’d go out and take some pictures. A few weeks ago i found there is a path down along Ljanselva and I decided to walk it down to Fiskevollbukta, a nice 2.5 km walk along the river in the woods.

When i got there i got the bright idea that a walk into Oslo wouldn’t be to bad so I set out. So my little stroll ended up at about 12 km when I caught the buss from the National theater.

I just wish that I solved some world problems along the way, but thinking back i guess my brain was blank for the most part. Zombie walking, living in my own little world watching time fly by.

Guess that’s the story of my life :)

And i got a few photos. Thought I’d post my first attempt on a HDR image, so here goes.

Guess I’ll have to use some more time on post processing, and selecting a nice motive for such an image seems to take some practice to.

Muskeldundermarsjen 2009

by Roar on May.22, 2009, under Music, Travel

Muskeldundermarsjen 2009
Sørkedal’n – Verdal’n
597,2 kilometer
Inkludert 0,1 km pissepauser

Det ble en flying start på årets store internasjonale muskeldundermarsj. Rett fra
barnefødsel kom Lommedalens store datter Leahmus Agrolica svevende over startstreken
med den nyfødte hengende i brystet. Fra Sørkedalen brus og edruskap stiller
hurtigkar og supersjarmør Speed Date Rennafart. Verdalen stiller med skistjerna
Hjørdis Rappen fra Fishølet turn og idrettsforening. Ingen internasjonal turmarsj

Speed Date Rennafart skar over krøn, men håper å nype seg
tilbake rundt en stein på ytter. Vi følger spent med på den videre utviklingen i
marsjen.

opptog.

Still not good at it but getting better :-)

by Roar on May.21, 2009, under This and that

So what has happened since the last time.

A whole lot, it’s been a busy week and weekend before that.

On Friday i went to my friends wedding in Moss, an event that almost got spoiled when i suddenly got a call telling me that there was a forest fire in Vestby and that we were needed there. Luckily I later got a message telling me that the fire brigade got it all covered and I didn’t have to go after all. Which was both good and a bit sad. I feel that we need to get some action soon, not just exercises.

Then Sunday was the 17Th of May, which as always is a long day. Getting up at 5:30 to be at Slurpen by 7:30, doing our round playing when the flag was hoisted around Sofienberg and then back to Lakkegata at 8:00 and our traditional 17Th of May breakfast.

The we got some time of before we marched down into town to join the 17Th of May parade up Karl Johan and past the royal family at the palace. I guess we finished off just about 12:00 since we heard the last of the gun salutes form Akershus festining just as we marched past the city hall.

And then some of us ended up at Tempest having a beer as we usually end up doing :)

The rest of the week has been a little of this and a little of that. i had Monday of, Tuesday in Trondheim, Wednesday on Grorud on a civil defence officers exercise, where we were part of some planning concerning the large three day exercise that is taking place in June.

And of course today I’ve got the day of. Just slept in a bit and went to the gym and just now came back from town where I’ve just lingered outside reading my book until it started raining.

Easter in Kristiansand

by Roar on Apr.12, 2009, under Travel

Time for a little update here again, has been real slow the last few weeks.
Both with my blogging and the new and better life I’m afraid. The only good thing is that my new life has been just a tad better than my blogging :)

Right now I’m in Kristiansand visiting my sister. I came here on Wednesday afternoon and I’m staying until Monday. On Thursday I helped my sister and her husband to move from their apartment and into the house they have bought. Thank God it’s a small place they moved from. It took us only about three hours and three runs back and forth to get it all in. And the weather gods were on our side to. Nice, sunny and dry, couldn’t have been any better.

The rest of the time has been just relaxing and they have started to get stuff placed. Or rather, the kitchen is filled up mostly and the rest is still waiting in boxes. I guess it’s still a while before everything is in place.

kristiansandThere is some repair work needed to so it will probably be a while before they get really settled in. But I think they got a good house. And the surroundings here are just great, nice and quiet and just a few minutes’ walk from a large lake where you can just relax, swim or whatever when the summer really comes.

As I’ve already mentioned we were lucky with the weather in Thursday. And we had the same brilliant sunny day on Friday. Today has been a bit more overcast but no rain so I’m happy.

I’m just hoping it stays like this the next few days to.

A new weekend looms :D

by Roar on Mar.13, 2009, under This and that

and I’ve yet to have blogged about last weekend. Guess that’s life :)

But the seminar was fun, drinking, playing and having fun. My order at systembolaget got messed up so i got a bottle of red instead of Bacardi. But I’m a bit unsure whether it was a good thing or not :D

The rest of the week has been busy and now I’m looking forward to a quite Friday. just got to do some spinning at the gym first :)

Tomorrow I’m going to Aase Kristin’s place where shes having a party, guess it’s going to be a bit delayed birthday party since her birthday was on Monday. Should be good.

Hmm better be off or they are going to give away my reservation at the gym.

Have a nice weekend all !

Oh .. and another thing.

Congratulations Tomas and May Britt … They got a baby girl yesterday !

Today has been one of those good days

by Roar on Mar.01, 2009, under This and that

You know, one of those days when you have nothing planned and the a lot of things happens.

The day started with a good nights sleep, and i woke up wondering what today might bring. Got up and tried to decide whether to run and catch a spinning class at the gym, wait for a while and catch a strength exercise e class or just go and pump some iron.

I ended up going to the pool for a good 45 minute swim before I got tired of swimming in congestion, there are usually just a few to may people in that pool to make it really enjoyable. But still, it was all good.

Then I got a message from Petter asking if I wanted to grab a bite and go shoot some pool, which i haven’t done in ages. And i was starving   :-D

We went to a Indian restaurant and had a nice meal before we played a few rounds of pool.

On the way out of that place we figured, why not go to the movies ?

So we ended up at the cinema watching The International. I haven’t heard anything about it before seeing it but it was actually quite good, in a special way. It’s said to be a thriller and with some action, but it’s one of those movies that has a plausible plot.

Some people are so fucking rude

by Roar on Jan.28, 2009, under My home

Where I live we have a washing room for laundry, and a system were you put a padlock on a day and time slot to book using the washer and dryer.

Lately some fucker keeps stealing my time, either by starting the washing before i come, which is fine cause then i just chuck it out. But even worse. They have started to take my half washed or dried clothes out, and putting in their own.

Next time it all goes in the bin !

by Roar on Jan.07, 2009, under This and that, the blog

Do you see it ??

I hope not. Since it’s all, or at least most of it, been updates to the back end system :) Since WordPress, that this page is built on, has come in version 2.7 I thought I’d better keep this thing uptodate.

And i had to do some fixes to my gallery since I forgot to backup that CSS file, shit happens :)

Have a look in my gallery to, as I found a few new photoes that I would like to share.

Little update.

by Roar on Jan.03, 2009, under This and that

You can say what you want about the new law which is making it illegal to buy sex.

But tonight is the first evening in a long time when i could walk down Karl Johan without getting harassed by prostitutes, and it’s great !

Tonight i went to the movies with a friend and saw the new Norwegian movie Max Manus which i had high hopes for and which came through. then we had a few beers at the Oslo micro brewery before going home, and soon to bed. Tomorrow brings an early start so that i get to have clean clothes for a new week :)
