WayOutback Adventure
by Roar on Jan.16, 2008, under Travel
Well I’m back in Sydney again after one of the best experiences in my life. I’ve been up in Alice Springs and traveled for five days in the bush on one of the WayOutback dessert safaris. (continue reading…)
Hot !
by Roar on Jan.09, 2008, under Travel
Must be the first expression of Alice Springs. Getting of the plain and the dry hot air threatens to turn you into a raisin in seconds.
But it gets better. The hostel I’m in is quite nice, clean air conditioned rooms and a pool and a nice bar. I’ve just been over there now and had dinner. Camel, it tasts like .. chicken
nah.. it was good, but quit plain, you could probably pass it off as any other meat if you wanted to, the taste of it at least, the texture was a bit special.
So now I’m just gonna hang around here and perhaps grab another beer. Haven’t found anyone that’s going on my tour yet, but it seems a lot of people are here just to go on one of the many tours going out from here tomorrow.
Looking forward to it
Back in Sydney
by Roar on Jan.08, 2008, under Travel
Then I’m back in Sydney after my little trip to Canberra. It was nice to see Susan again, and to get a decent nights sleep in a quiet room all to my self
And it wasn’t to bad do get our and away from the rain in Sydney either.
Not that the rain here is so bad actually, it’s just a slight drizzle and the temperature is still quite nice.
Tomorrow I’ll leave for Alice Springs, so then there will be a few more days without any writing here, but then again I’ll probably be back with a few nice pictures and stuff. Or at least I hope so
Here’s a few pictures for you.
It’s raining ..
by Roar on Jan.05, 2008, under Travel
Makes me feel just like home, except it’s still warm, there are actual showers of rain instead of days of it
Yesterday I got the new lens for my camera, it doesn’t look that big in the pictures but it’s a quite heavy piece of equipment. But I guess that’s what quality feels like. I haven’t had much time to test it yet, but that’ll come later I guess.
Today I’ve been booking my tickets to Canberra, I’m going up there tomorrow and I’ll stay at Susan’s house for the night before I go back to Sydney on Monday.
Then its only two nights more before I fly to Alice Springs.
When I get back I’m going to stay at Angela’s house, and then I’ve got to get up to Bathurst and visit Melissa.
The rest of today I’ll have to see if I can figure out whats happening i Sydney. There is the Sydney festival that starts today, I’ve seen a lot of billboards around town but haven’t figured out what’s happening yet.
Short update
by Roar on Jan.03, 2008, under Travel
Just a few quick words here.
As I planed I spent a few hours in Wollongong yesterday, walking the beach mostly, it’s a long time since the last time, and it was a longer walk than I remember
Then I spent the afternoon on the roof at the hostel, I was thinking about joining the people going out but I couldn’t be bothered.
Today I’ve been looging around in town for some more clothes since most the stuff I brought with me has begun to become worn.
Going to Angelas place tonight and we’re going to have a BBQ and a spa, sounds like it’s gonna be a nice evening
Tomorrow I might go to the beach again, have to see how the wetter will be, it’s said that we’ll have some showers tomorrow, and the might be cause it’s starting to get a bit cloudy here today.
But a bit of rain now wouldn’t kill anyone.
Happy new year !

Finally the category name matches
Last night we went to Darling harbour for the fireworks at 9. It’s great when you are that close to the action, even if you don’t see the stuff going on further out in the harbour.
After that we went up into town and had a few drinks before we joined the crowd surging towards The Rocks.
We didn’t get a great view of the main fireworks at first, but we got to see it light of from the bridge, and then we moved up until we were standing under the bridge, then we got a good view out toward the harbour and to the fireworks fired from the buildings in town.
After the fireworks we followed the crown in toward city central and found our self a pub on the way. It’s the first time I’ve been told to go outside if you want to drink, so we ended up back in the streets with a beer in our hands.
Later we found another pub, which was strangely abandoned at first.
Today I’ve been doing almost nothing, got a little bit sunburned yesterday so decided it would be wise to stay out of the sun for a few hours. So I’ve just been around relaxing in the shade with my book.
Tomorrow I’m thinking about going to Wollongong, but we’ll see.
New years day
by Roar on Dec.31, 2007, under Travel
G’day
It’s almost that time, the cities parks are crowded with people and the party has been underway for half a day already.
The last two days have been pretty uneventful, I’ve needed the time to adjust to the heat and the sun, but now I feel that things are getting there.
The first night here I had some problems sleeping because of the heat, the second night I slept a bit better, but got woken by a really local “earthquake”, well at least my bunk bed was shaking
Last night I was thinking about going out but ended up sitting on the roof until we got thrown inn, and then in the reception area until I felt like sleeping.
I’ve also booked my trip to Alice Springs, and are traveling there on the 9th and will be back in Sydney on the 15th. I’m going to do this tour. I 5 days trip including Uluru, Watarrka (Kings Canyon) and some other places, I’ll probably get back to that when I return from the trip
Other than that I’m having a BBQ at Angela’s place on Thursday and I’m trying to figure out when to go to Canberra to meet Susan and to Bathurst to meet Melissa. Hmm thinking of it I should have been to Wollongong to.
But enough for today. We’re going to Darling harbour soon so I better get ready.
Finaly arrived in Sydney
by Roar on Dec.28, 2007, under Travel
And have just stowed my luggage in he hostel. A few people still sleeping in my room so I figured I’ll let them sleep a bit more before I start rummaging around
Singapore
by Roar on Dec.27, 2007, under Travel
Well then I’m almost there
I’ve just now landed in Singapore, and will be here for an hours time while they are cleaning out the plane and doing yet another security check. This will then be the 5th one since I left home.
First twice in Ålesund because I went back outside the security zone to get some food, and then twice on Frankfurt airport, with just 50 meters between em, go figure.
And now it seems I’ll have to go through the 5th one here. Might even be a 6th one in Sydney, who knows
Gardermoen
by Roar on Dec.26, 2007, under Travel
At last I`ve arrived on Gardermoen. I have been asking to see if there where any earlier flights to Frankfurt, but it seems the one I`m on is the earliest.
That will give me about 2.5 hours in Frankfurt. I got my luggage checked all the way to Sydney which is nice, but I`ll have to check in my ticket for the final leg when I`m at the airport. Better start looking into the easiest way to get this done
