And the second one :D

by Roar on Mar.17, 2010, under My home

But no picture just yet, I’ve got to get rid of a old cupboard and do some painting first. And it seems it will be a little while until I’ve got that sorted.

But I’m getting there :D

Mirror, mirror. One up one to go

by Roar on Mar.14, 2010, under My home

I decided a few weeks back that I needed to do some changes to my kitchen. Get it a bit brighter. And I found that getting some mirrors on the wall should do the trick.

And today I’ve got the first one up, and the second should be along shortly. This one needs a bit more work, got to do some painting and replace some old cupboards on the wall. So I guess I’ll return later with the result on that one.

But here you can see the before and after of my first wall at least :D

Before the mirror came up

Etter speilet på plass

I hope you see which is which. I struggled a bit with the after image since my camera go a bit disorientated on where the focus should be :D

At home

by Roar on Aug.12, 2009, under My home, Travel

Time for a little update from back home.

Since Monday I’ve been at my parents place where I grew up, doing as little as possible :D

Which means that the first ting I had to to was to mowe the lawn :)

On Tuesday we had a little break in the rain and I managed to do a hike up to Leinehornet, the highest point on the island where I grew up (363 m.s.l.) it is quite a nice walk except that the part from my house to the main trails has not been used to much in the recent years and have almost disappeared. Which led to me being soaking wet before I was half way to the top.

When you come a bit higher the vegetation gets lover and it gets a bit easier. I was relay pleased that people seems to have started to use the old trails that I used to walk when I was a kid. The last time I went up it was almost gone to, but this time around there seems to have been quite a bit more traffic there. Which is good, that route is much nicer than the one going almost straight up the mountain.

I did the round trip in about two hours, but I like to stop and have a look around :D

The rest of the week has been slow, which I enjoy for now. Today started out with pouring rain, but then around 6 pm it suddenly broke up and we had sun for a few hours. I used the break in the weather to go out and get a few pictures og the sun and the rain at the same time. That’s the western Norwegian summer for ya.

I’ve added a new image category today to, I’m trying to get some nice HDR images and these are some of my first tries. I’ve not focused to much on the post processing part of HDR images since I’m currently figuring out how to take good photos as a base for a good HDR image.

Have a look at the gallery here.

Some people are so fucking rude

by Roar on Jan.28, 2009, under My home

Where I live we have a washing room for laundry, and a system were you put a padlock on a day and time slot to book using the washer and dryer.

Lately some fucker keeps stealing my time, either by starting the washing before i come, which is fine cause then i just chuck it out. But even worse. They have started to take my half washed or dried clothes out, and putting in their own.

Next time it all goes in the bin !

Before and after

by Roar on Jul.29, 2007, under My home

Guess it’s that time again.
The time to finally put something new up here.

Fixing up this place goes slow and steady, slow being a keyword it seems. But at least something is happening.

A few weeks back I had my parents here and me and my dad finally got to fix the horrible tiles in the kitchen area.

I’ve attached a before and after image, I think if came out just great

What do you think ?

The next project now will be to build a shelf for my stereo and mount my TV on the wall, at the moment it’s just standing on my loudspeakers :)

Then I’ll need to make a shelf up by the ceiling where I’ll but my DSL modem and router, and run cables up through the ceiling and to my computers. It’s starting to get a bit crowded in the air around here so I don’t get the speed I would like from my wireless connection. I’m also planning on running a coaxial cable around the same way so that it isn’t showing in the room.

But that’s all in the future, right now I’m going out :)

Going the right way

by Roar on Feb.13, 2007, under My home

Guess I’m not to good at updating this blog but here goes.
I’ve no started putting the kitchen together finally.
Last weekend my parents came by and we managed to raise my bed and make a drawer underneath and put up some of the kitchen.

We managed to get all the cupboard that’s supposed to hang on the wall up and to finish the part of the kitchen where the sink goes. Or almost finish. Today I’ve fastened the kitchen top and filled the gap between it and the wall. I guess the people back in the 60′s wasn’t that worries about getting the angles right so there where a gab between the kitchen top and the wall at the end.

I saw some of the same problems on the cupbords that I’ve hung, the last one is slightely lower than the rest to make it fit right. Guess that is just part of the game.

This week I was hoping to get the rest of the kitchen together, but there is a lot of other stuff happening and I’, only able to do work on Tuesday ( today 9 and Thursday. And then just between around 1800 and until 2000 when it’s supposed to be quiet in the building.

Below are two photos of how it looks right now.

Update

by Roar on Feb.02, 2007, under My home

A long overdue update coming your way.

Things have changed, but not by much :(

I found there were quite a big problem with the wiring for my stove, there were none !

So my kitchen is still located on the floor in the living room together with all my other stuff. But I have moved in and got my bed up and my PC working. So then I’m saved for now :)

Next Tuesday I’ll have an electrician over to fix the wiring, and then my parents are coming on Thursday. Hopefully we’ll be able to do quite a lot while they are here. *fingers crossed*

First Afternoon

by Roar on Jan.18, 2007, under My home

Today was my first day actually doing something in my apartment. I started out removing the shelves which I’ll use somewhere else after I finish with the rest of the kitchen.

Then I removed the freezer underneath the table and started deicing it.
I was hoping that it was in good order but it seems a bit shabby, so I’m unsure if anyone  might want to have it, but I’ll have to give it a try.

Then i started on the table, sanded it down and stained the table with dark stain. I actually managed to stain it twice so I hope it turns out good.

I’ve uploaded a before and after picture, it’s not the best since the lighting on the two photos are very different. hmm perhaps I’ll make a better one tomorrow.

Kitchen

by Roar on Jan.18, 2007, under My home

I’ve finally managed to put together my new kitchen and spent last evening trotting around at IKEA collecting all the bits and pieces. This is one giant puzzle :D

Today I’ll have to go to Maxbo again and order the counter top for the kitchen, I didn’t find any I liked at IKEA.

Below is a few sketches of how it will look.

Getting started

by Roar on Dec.25, 2006, under My home

Well here we go.

I’m no getting into real estate.

Just before Christmas I got the new, the place is mine, and my head is now trying to figure out how I can make the most of this new beginning.

Right now the place looks like the pictures below, except the furniture I guess.

My initial plans are to remodel the kitchen and replace the red floor tiles just inside the front door.

And I’ll keep posting updates here.
