Exercise

Just had to add this

by Roar on Apr.07, 2010, under Exercise

Today’s training log from my watch.

I had a quick look at my watch after the boxing class today and saw that my maximum heart rate was set to 180, so I thought there must have been a glitch somewhere. Because I didn’t feel like I’d worked that hard.

But I guess todays class was a lot more fun that I thought since it seems I’ve been up to that hart rate a number of times.

Guess this shows how much easier it is to do a proper workout when you are having fun.

Thanks a lot for a great class Merita :D

And I’ve even been able to play a bit on my trombone tonight, struggling with that  high C *hmpf*

A flying start

by Roar on Jan.05, 2010, under Exercise

And a bit more so than planned.

Today I went to the gym for the first time this year and in my head I figured that doing a 45 minutes cycling class followed by a bit harder 55 minutes class would be a great idea.

I got to start reading what I sign up for. The 45 was good, and the following harder class was great. Except it wasn’t a 55 minutes class. It was 75.

But I got through so perhaps I’ll do it again one day, just not tomorrow :D

Exercise blæh

by Roar on May.12, 2009, under Exercise

Today was one of those blæh days at the gym. It started out good enough with a decent round of strength exercises, and then i was going to do a 55 minutes spinning class.

Well I actually did do one, but i was empty just a few minutes after starting. Not good.

Better get to bed and have a good nights sleep and hope it goes better tomorrow.

Spinning marathon

by Roar on Apr.25, 2009, under Exercise, This and that

Today’s been the spinning day, three hours of it in fact. And all in all it worked out quite good. I was worried that it would be a lot harder than it was. But then again that might mean I didn’t try hard enough :)

But I’m happy, looking at my pulse graph after i got home shown that i managed my pulse rather good.

spinning-25-04-09

I managed an average of  145 bpm over the three hours which i think is good.

And now I’m getting ready to go to Marabella in Prinsdal to have a few beers with some of the people from the gym. should be good. if not I’ll just have to see whether i should go into town or not. It’s such a nice day today, sunny and calm. Kind of a shame that I spent most of it inside on a bike.

But shit happens.

Next weekend I get visitors all the way from Australia. Susan and her boyfriend are coming to spend the weekend here. I’m looking forward to that.

Just hope the rest of my OZ friend find their way to Norway to some day :)

The Easter break has ended

by Roar on Apr.14, 2009, under Exercise, Travel

And it’s back to the good old daily activities. And starting to look forward to my next break :)

I’ve been really bad at blogging my training the last few weeks, and not to good at doing it either, but now I’m back for a while. Today’s trip to the gym was great, i had a lot of fun and now I’m exhausted in a good way. And I’m loving the weather tonight , you can really feel spring coming today and I’m hoping that tomorrow will be a great day. The weather services are not as positive as I but I’m hoping to prove them wrong ;)

And here comes today’s little chart.

Another day is over

by Roar on Mar.25, 2009, under Exercise

Today I’ve been good, woke up and went for a walk before breakfast, I’ve been eating every three hours, green stuff :) and then I went to the gym and did 20 minutes on the rowing machine and a 45 minutes cycling class.

And then I’ve tested this recipe, but with my own twist. Added some grated carrot, basil and oregano. I managed to make a bit to much for one meal but I’m hoping that putting the rest in the freezer works for later :)

And today’s graph.

spinning-25-03-09

Not as good as yesterday, but I’m in the right zone so it’s not bad.

The rest of the week will be a bit more challenging. Tomorrow i have bad practice so i guess that’s a rest day. And then me and Petter is going to Copenhagen this weekend. Guess I got some catching up to do next week.

The first day of a new and better life.

by Roar on Mar.24, 2009, under Exercise

Today i got a wake up call and i hope it lasts. After spinning at the gym today I took a body analysis with one of the PT’s there. Which I’ve wanted to do for a while just to have something a bit solid to refer to when it comes to my health.

And even if the results aren’t unexpected at all, in fact they are probably where i would expect them to be. Except a few pleasant surprises :D

But still, suddenly having it in writing makes one think, and things got to change. The good things are that my muscle mass is actually larger than i thought, the fat % is as I would have guessed, but still way to high at 35% :(

And then there are a few other measurements that are just whack, so i guess it’s time to go see the doc and get a health check to be sure there isn’t anything else i should worry about.

You can see the whole test sheet here: kroppsanalyse

I actually got a bit upset after this and went for a long walk to clear my head. Which worked fine. So i now got a plan, or at least a start of something.

  1. Eat more often, which is something I’ve known about for ages but not been good at. And more of the green stuff.
  2. More cycling.

And I’m planning to start getting out for a walk in the morning before work. At Least the days when i know I’m not going to the gym anyways. I guess that if I manage to get those things to be a habit that I’ll feel the changes.

And I’ll just have to start adding my workout graph here. Was quite good today, but a bit to uneven in the first part.
